Dolomia

Client: Interreg III
Year: 2023

Dolomia turns trekking guides for Alta Via delle Dolomiti n.2 into vivid companions that make epic Alpine paths feel immediate and conquerable.

Challenge

Standard guidebooks overwhelm with dense text and needed layouts that capture mountain progression without photos, turning specs into immersive journeys that build hiker confidence.

Idea

Design as path itself: typography and hierarchy mimic the trek’s rhythm, propelling readers from practical prep through 13 core stops to 7 hidden alternatives, making every page a step forward.

Solution

Front matter kicks off with emergency rules and full-route overview in bold hierarchy—scannable sans for facts, extended serif for vivid descriptions. Core 13 stops flow via progressive layouts: widening margins evoke expanding vistas, contrasting weights spotlight elevation gains and hut details. Alternative 7 routes break the grid with asymmetric panels, injecting spontaneity that mirrors off-trail discovery. Full system prioritizes breathable white space and micro-animations in digital versions, ensuring print or screen pulls users deeper into the Dolomiti.

Impact

Dolomia equips explorers to visualize and own their adventure—practical yet poetic, turning route data into emotional maps that inspire bolder paths.
