KFC Italia breaks hot dog rules with Crispy Hot Dog—the first without sausage, powered by massive chicken and Doritos crunch in QSR speed.
Challenge
Fixed die-cut in cost-conscious QSR meant no structural innovation: graphics alone had to scream “chicken revolution” and dominate shelves.
Idea
Blow up the hero – the chicken – photographically huge on front, impossible to miss; custom type stretches like the sandwich itself, turning name into shape-shifter.
Solution
Massive chicken photo anchors front between sharp sandwich outlines. Bold custom typeface warps “Crispy Hot Dog”—letters elongate bun-like, corners crisp to match texture. KFC/Doritos logos, stripes, and Colonel stamp layer authenticity without clutter. Full graphic system maximizes fixed format for instant category disruption.
Impact
Packs leap off shelves as the anti-hot-dog—shoppers spot chicken dominance instantly, proving graphics alone can redefine QSR expectations.
